Window Shopping Goes High Tech

High-tech window displays are bringing new life to shopping. It’s fun, too.
Consider this illustration: adidas NEO “is taking window shopping to a new level with an interactive digital window concept that connects to your smartphone. Now it is possible to shop at our store after hours without an app or scanning a QR code. By typing in the special URL you can connect your smartphone to the window and take control of a virtual shopping bag. Any product dropped into the window’s shopping bag instantly appears on your mobile ready to save, purchase or share with friends.”

In-Store Mapping and Mobile Media

Store retailers are well aware of the negative impact of social media on showrooming behavior. However, newer, more helpful mobile apps are aiding store retailers.
Consider this example, as reported by Chantal Tode for Mobile Commerce Daily: “In a sign of the growing role that mobile plays in the in-store shopping experience, more than 12,000 retail locations, including those of Walgreens and Home Depot are offering indoor searchable store maps accessible from a smartphone. Using aisle411’s in-store mapping platform, smartphone users can view, search, and map products in retail stores. Users are able to locate products down to a particular section of each aisle.”
