KFC Shares Its Social Media Strategy

Patricia Odell reports that: “KFC is using social media to give away hundreds of gift certificates to fans and followers who stay alert to tweets and Facebook posts and to bring attention to a point of differentiation from its competitors—its chicken on the bone is fresh, not frozen. The promotion is just one way KFC reaches its large base of fans—79,000 Twitter followers and 3.9 million Facebook fans. The communications are largely entertaining and used to encourage participation from its customer with a dash of sales promotions mixed in.”

Automate, Increase Engagement, & Drive Revenue with Triggered Messages

As a recent Bronto white paper states:  “According to academic literature, the average maximum, continuous adult attention span is less than 30 seconds and the focused attention span is less 8 seconds. Those facts mean you have precious little time to get your subscribers’ attention, keep it and, as a result, optimize where it matters. Facebook Sharing Explodes: How to Drive More Sales

This is one in a series of books from PowerReviews eBooks: “It’s simple. Facebook is continuously releasing new features that encourage sharing. Take a look at the graph below [which appears in the eBook) for a glimpse at the sharing growth. Overlayed on top of the graph are icons for the various features Facebook has introduced over the years. In 2004, all you could share was your profile information. The volume of sharing was much lower: roughly 0.1 pieces of content per day per person. Today, according to Facebook, that number is well over 30 times that. As Facebook has introduced such things as photo albums, the news feed, messaging and the like button, the volume of sharing has gone up. Facebook is making it easier for us to share everyday with new features that remove barriers to sharing content. As a result, we’re seeing exponential growth in the volume of content being shared.”
