Consumers Still Want Deals

Shoppers’ interest in deals is still strong despite some mixed signs of economic growth. Many people are unlikely to turn away from this shopping approach any time soon.
As Patricia O’Dell writes in Promo: “Whether or not the economy is improving is of much debate. Even so, over the last 12 months, shoppers have grown more price sensitive and they are on the hunt to find bargains with shopper price comparison research up 35 percent over the last year, a new study has found. Some 70 percent of shoppers surveyed have grown more sensitive to price in the past 12 months, with price rising steadily as the primary driver of consumers’ purchasing decisions, from 60 percent in 2010 to 66 percent in 2012, according to this third annual study from Parago.

InterContinental’s New Customer Reward Program

The category—digital, instant rewards—is a shift toward value during a time of economic uncertainty that has greatly affected hotel loyalty programs.”
