Amazon’s Looking to Same-Day Shipping

Amazon is already an online retailing behemoth. It’s free standard shipping on orders of $25 or more has led the industry for years. Amazon Prime (at $79/year) gives shoppers guaranteed two-day delivery without a minimum purchase amount, as well as access to free streaming movies and a lending library for the Kindle.
Now, Multichannel Merchant reports: “When you look at the investments Amazon.com has made of late to improve the  back-end of its business, speculation that the E-commerce giant will offer its customer same-day delivery makes sense. Amazon has been making moves to enable same day delivery for years. Its constant  push to open fulfillment centers in several densely-populated areas – and the  March purchase of robotic fulfillment automation service provider Kiva Systems – enables the same-day delivery.”
